REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman emphasized the need to aggressively implement the artificial insemination program in Indonesia to increase the population of cows in the country.
To this end, the minister stated that the Agriculture Ministry had been cooperating with Spain to implement the frozen fertilization technology.
"As much budget as possible should be made available for artificial insemination. If needed, two million cows in Indonesia can be impregnated every year," Amran affirmed during the National Agricultural Development Planning Meeting 2016 here on Tuesday.
Amran remarked that if the impregnation of 50 percent of the two million cows was successful, the country will be able to get one million new cows per year.
Hence, Amran has called for the use of rubber stamps to identify non-pregnant cows in different regions for artificial insemination.
