Indonesian armed forces establish cooperation with Indian armed forces

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID , JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the Armed Forces of India expressed their commitment to continue to boost cooperation in various activities involving the interaction of the two agencies in the future.

It was revealed by Chief of General Staff (Kasum) Laksdya and Didier Herdiawan, while receiving the delegation of the National Defence Institute (LPN) India in Jakarta, Tuesday (31/5). During the visit, the LPN India delegation led by Lieutenant General NS Ghei, Pvsm.

Didier said today his agency continue to run number of strategic programs gradually in all sectors to make the TNI as a world-class professional military. "Of course the programs are adapted to environmental developments, challenges and threats faced by Indonesia today," Didier said, Tuesday (30/5).

He explained that the strategic program that the TNI is currently running covers not only regional scale, but also globally. On a regional scale, he said, the TNI actively cooperates with the armed forces of the countries in the region which are in the form of joint training activities, the annual high-level committee, education, and personnel exchanges, and exchange visits between military leaders.

"Meanwhile, at the global level, Indonesia has always actively participated in various missions under the UN flag. One of them deployed Garuda Contingent (Konga) since 1957," he said.

Although geographically locations Indonesia and India is far,  Didier continued, the two countries actually have close bilateral relations since long time. The relationship involve not only between government leaders, but also the leadership of the armed forces of both countries, namely the military and the Indian Armed Forces.

“Indonesia armed forces will happily to open opportunity for discussion with colleagues of the National Defence Institute (LPN) from India. We also hope that today's meeting can help all colleagues obtain provisions that are beneficial to your career assignments in the future, "said Didier again.
