REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The Youth and Sports Ministry or Kemenpora has allocated around Rp165 billion for the accommodation and transportation affairs of the 19th National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in West Java in 2016.
"The central government has provided around Rp165 billion in funds relating to the 19th PON in West Java towards accommodation and transportation," Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Imam Nahrawi said here Friday.
The Kemenpora continues supervising and monitoring (preparation) of the sports week in order to make the national event a success, according to him.
"I have informed about it (the fund) through the secretary to the West Java Provincial Government, which should be forwarded to the West Java Governor in order to be supervised for the PON," he pointed out.
With regard to a location for the opening and closing ceremony of the sports week, the minister said it was for the PON organizing committee to decide whether it will be at Si Jalak Harupat stadium in Soreang city or at Bandung Lautan Api sports stadium, Gedebage in Bandung municipality.
Last year, West Java governor Ahmad Heryawan had requested Rp691 billion from the central government for infrastructure development of the PON, VIVA.co.id quoted the governor as saying.
