Police finds marijuana farm in Pekanbaru

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- Riau Police found a land which was used as a marijuana plantation in the subdistrict Rumbai Pesisir, Pekanbaru City, Tuesday (14/6).

"We quite surprise because it is not far from the center of the city," said Riau Police's public relations head, Grand Commissioner Superintendent (AKBP) Guntur Aryo Tejo in Pekanbaru.

He explained that the finding of marijuana field contained nine stalks of marijuana plants ready for harvest were found by Drug Investigation Directorate of Riau Police at 00:30 pm local time on Tuesday. The discovery of marijuana fields was from the information from society who feel suspicious activity on location 'cultivation' of marijuana located at the Okura.

"From this information, the police conducted an investigation and monitoring," he said.

The results, the officers found a land planted with marijuana with height of about 150 centimeters. Then, the plants are subsequently seized to the Headquarters of Riau Police. But, the police officers have not found the perpetrator for marijuana field.

"The owner and perpetrator who plant the marijuana still in investigation," he said. Okura, subdistrict Rumbai Pesisir is an area on the edge of the city of Pekanbaru. To reach the location, it requires 40 minutes. This area is predicted to become Tourism Village in Pekanbaru.

Previously on May 19, 2016, Drug Investigation unit of Pekanbaru City police has arrested offenders caught were planting marijuana in pots.
