REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BIAK -- Traditional leaders of Noemfoor Biak, Papua Province, Gerard Kafiar asked the police as part of the law enforcement officer to take a firm action against the sellers of alcoholic beverages and distribution of alcoholic beverages that was issued by the regent in 2015.

“They still found sales of alcoholic beverages that are distributed freely in Biak, and this is the task of law enforcement officers and units Municipal Police to enforce stricter rules," said Acting Chairman Gerard Kafiar Biak Traditional Council on Wednesday.

He acknowledged, cessation of circulation of alcoholic beverages in governmental areas of Biak Numfor the government district made the decision after listening to the aspirations of religious leaders,the indigenous, women and youth.

He hoped that the supervision over the distribution of alcoholic beverages need to be tightened so that employers who are found still selling should be dealt with firmly under applicable law.

Gerard said, the impact of alcoholic beverages triggers crime and sexual assault cases, thus increasing the chances of transmitting HIV / AIDS that threatening the Papuan youth.

"The commitment of the district government to stop the circulation of alcoholic beverages should support all elements of society, so if we find there are still a number of alcohol businesses that freely selling these beverages then something need to be done by the law enforcement officials," said Gerard Kafiar.
