REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A resident of Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Hd (62 years) now is jailed by Samarinda Mayor Syaharie Jaang who report him to the police officers.

Hd feels upset because his home is often been flooded. Then, He was sending a short message to Syaharie. Unfortunately, his good intentions to criticize the mayor make him arrested. Hd reported to have defamed the mayor and detained at the detention center.

"He has been detained since yesterday by Samarinda police," said spokesman of East Kalimantan Police commissioner Fajar told to Republika in Jakarta, Monday (20/6).

Fajar explained Hd arrested with the Act of Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) and alleged of defamation. When asked is Hd detained due to only criticizing the mayor, Fajar reluctant to elaborate. He added police could prefer mediation. He continued, the mediation will be attended by witnesses from both sides.
