REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Forestry Congress (IFC) VI will be a gathering of forestry observers in the country. This event will be held will be held on the 30th of November till the 2nd of December 2016 at Manggala Wanabakti, Jakarta. There will at least be seven major issues to be addressed in this grand meeting.
"This event will be an arena of gathering for foresters of Indonesia to discuss any issues related to forestry and any number of areas," said Chairman of the Presidium of the National Forestry Board Agus Jerry Justianto.
IFC VI activities will have the theme "Repositioning of Forestry in Indonesia Towards Implementation of Good Forest Governance" and will be preceded by a series of activities to be held in seven areas, namely Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua.
As for the issues that will be discussed in the activities in a number of regions, including the Forest Management Unit (FMU), optimization of governance and national movement saving natural resources, empowerment and conflict resolution, land and forest fires, ecosystem restoration and peat, forestry business and SVLK (timber legality verification system), indigenous peoples, as well as climate change (REDD +).
"With the discussion of various issues, the results we expected is a recommendation that will be submitted to the government. Moreover, the National Forestry Board (NFB) is a partner of the government to give constructive feedback and concrete about the issue of forestry," he said.
Agus said, the NFB is an institution that was established in accordance with Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry, which states that the public is entitled to enjoy the quality of the resulting forest environment and participate in forest management. Agus added, in a series of activities KKI VI later, there will be elections DKN member presidium for the next period as the peak of the event.
