REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Military observer of Padjadjaran University in Bandung, Muradi, argued, that a military operations for the liberation of seven citizens who are held as hostage by Abu Sayyaf is to be considered  as an attractive option. Because, using diplomacy instead makes them feel that it is easy to get money from Indonesia.

Muradi said, during this the past we have been using soft approaches, however, it did not help to prevent from a third accident happening like this. This just makes Indonesia turn a blind eye from Abu Sayyaf group.

"Persuasive approach has been used and it’s been paid and not something that is free. And there has never been a history with Abu Sayyaf to release the hostages without paying anything. The military operation will become a way for them to deterrent their actions,” said Muradi to Republika.co.id when contacted on Thursday (30/6)

Moreover, according to Muradi the Minister of Defence has the  previlage from the Philippines to sign a military operation. Muradi said, this option is better than diplomacy.

“This option is better rather than continuously use the pay-pay method. Pursuit of this operation should be carried out. Then, the government could penetrate and create a strongholds settlement again. this will make the nation invincible,” said Muradi.

In the military operation itself, Muradi did not dismiss the possibility of casualties. However, it can show the international community that Indonesia is not a weak state. He said the military also has a standard operation that can be done to minimize casualties.

"If the we are brave towards China, why are we not the same towards Abu Sayyaf? Inevitably there will be victims however we do have a standard to perform the operation. This is still measurable," said Muradi.

Furthermore, this moment according Muradi also as a test event for the anti-terror forces as Denjaka Gultor, Den Bravo, and Denjaka in handling anti-terror.
