REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- President of the Republic of Cabo Verde Jorge Fonseca is impressed by Indonesia's development and believes bilateral relations can improve, a press release from Indonesia's embassy in Dakar, Senegal, received by Antara here Monday stated.

There are several fields of cooperation that could be strengthened on priority between both countries, such as economy and business, natural disaster management and training, President Fonseca said while receiving credentials from Indonesian Ambassador Mansyur Pangeran.

The president hoped that the cooperation in these fields could be improved in the near future.

He expected Indonesian businessmen to visit Cabo Verde to engage in business meetings with the local entrepreneurs.

Before being president, he had visited Indonesia when joining the United Nations team in Timor- Leste in 2001, Fonseca said.

The bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Cabo Verde has been going well, but both countries still need to strengthen people-to-people contact, Ambassador Mansyur said.

The cooperation in trading should also be improved considering the fact that the value of such a field is still low at US$5 million in 2015.

Indonesia and Cabo Verde have similar geographical conditions as both are archipelagic countries with great maritime and fisheries as well as tourism potential, the ambassador said.

On the occasion, the Indonesian ambassador promoted national strategic products such as the ferry ship manufactured by the shipyard state-owned company, PT PAL, CN235 aircraft made by PT Dirgantara Indonesia, and military products made by PT PINDAD.

Indonesia is ready to establish cooperation with Cabo Verde in agriculture similar to the one with Gambia, Ambassador Mansyur said.
