REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Fahri Hamzah has suggested Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim to apologize to the public because his attendance at the awards for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) organization.
According to him, minister should be sensitive to Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) issues. He regretted minister's ignorance about this award.
"He should send envoys so Lukman not considered to participate and agree to LGBTQ movement," Fahri said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (1/9).
Fahri said minister's presence at LGBTQ events just like the attendance of Health Minister to illicit drug event or police chief who visit alcohol party.
"He must be careful and apologize," he said.
However, Fahri believed Lukman understands that LGBTQ is a substantive issue for Indonesian. There is contrary among the state ideology, Pancasila and the liberal secular way of thinking LGBTQ issue. Secular liberal view LGBTQ as personal domain. But for Indonesia, it is not categorized as private sphere due to state ideology.
Previously, Lukman was criticized by some parties because of his presence in the awarding Suardi Tasrif Awards to the forum of LGBTIQ Indonesia and IPT 65. The award was to commemorate their 22th anniversary at the Sari Pan Pacific, Jl MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Friday (26/8).
