REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), Nashir Djamil, said President Jokowi must not reappoint Arcandra Tahar as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

The discourse of pointing Arcandra to his previous position in the cabinet is not appropriate," he said at the Parliament complex on Thursday (9/8)

Previously, Jokowi dismissed Arcandra due to his dual citizenship. He owned American and Indonesian passport. Arcandra has officially had his Indonesian citizenship reinstated on Sept 1.

Being asked by the press during a press conference on Thursday, Arcandra refused to give comment about the discourse. "I do not wish to answer other topic beside tonight's discussion," he said. Tonight, Arcandra will join discussion about "Energy Sovereignty" at Dharmawangsa Hotel, South Jakarta.

Despite of the appointment and dismissal of minister is the prerogative of the president himself, Djamil warned the consequences of getting Arcandra back. "The president should consider public trust to the current government," he said.

In the other hand, another member of Commission III, Ruhut Sitompul, asserted Arcandra is worthy to be reappointed as minister despite his past citizenship problem.

Ruhut considered Arcandra as a great man in his field and is able to make saving in the Energy and Mineral Resouces sector significantly. "In fact, within 20 days served as the minister, Arcandra has done a lot of things. He's a rare great man," he said.
