REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- The immigration office in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, will immediately deport 48 Chinese citizens for having worked illegally in the province.
"Right now, 45 of them are still undergoing judicial process while the three others are not because, when checked, they could show their passports," the office's head of sub-section of immigration traffic affairs, Agustianur, said here Thursday.
He said his office would deport them immediately after a court ruling is issued. "It is only a trivial case, namely violation of an immigration law, so we will quickly complete their paperwork for immediate deportation," he said.
PT Sepco, the sub-contractor of PT WHW and PT Victory, which sponsored their arrival, would be summoned, he added.
A team from the immigration office arrested the 48 Chinese citizens on August 31 for entering the Ketapang and Kayong Utara districts in West Kalimantan without official documents, an official from the West Kalimantan office of the ministry of justice and human rights, Ardian Setiawan, said.
The arrests followed the interception of 27 Chinese citizens at Rahadi Isman airport in Ketapang for having no official documents such as passports and overstaying.
The immigration team later arrested 10 other Chinese citizens living in Kampung Sampit.
On September 1, they arrested seven others from the location of PT Sepco and four others at Hotel Brenton, Ketapang.
