REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Guards of Istiqlal Treatise (Shield) has recommended Yusril Ihza Mahendra and Sandiaga Uno as candidate in the election of DKI Jakarta's governor.
Shield spokesman, KH Bachtiar Nasir said there are five reasons behind that decision.
"First, they best represent the interests of the Muslims. Their candidacy has long been predicted by MPJ (Assembly waitress Jakarta) and GMJ (Society Movement Jakarta), and other various elements of Islam," Bachtiar said in a statement on Wednesday (21/9).
Second, Bachtiar added, Yusril and Sandi have worked and already has a huge social capital.
"Third, if it's combined, both of them had higher electability among the other pairs of candidates," he said.
Fourth, Shield believed they are the better opponent to the pair incumbent.
"Fifth, the Muslims will unite to provide full support to them." Bachtiar explained.
Bachtiar hoped the coalition of non-incumbent political parties can unite in order to facilitate people's vote.
"We should unite to confront a common enemy. No matter how difficult the obstacle are, may Allah SWT unite the voice of coalition of non-incumbent political parties," he said.
