REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- After hours of meeting on Wednesday (9/21) evening, the kinship coalition still has not given any name to the public regarding their candidate for the Jakarta governor race 2017
Gathered at the Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's (SBY) house in Cikeas, West Java, four political parties from kinship coalition agreed to choose the best candidate to compete with the incumbent.
"We have several alternative and it has been narrowed down to be finalized on Thursday at 12.00 pm," Zulkifli Hasan of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said on Wednesday (9/21).
Zulkifli said four political parties already continue to communicate with the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The kinship coalition, said Zulkifli, hoping the Gerindra and PKS would preferred the same candidate for DKI's 1 election.
Being interviewed in different occasion, Sandiaga Uno, the candidate chosen by Gerindra and PKS, said kinship coalition are still intact even when the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has left the coalition by choosing the incumbent.
Meanwhile, Muhaimin Iskandar of the National Awakening Party (PKB) added on Thursday each party's regional council will announce the candidate they preferred. The meeting at SBY's house, he added, is based on the aspirations of each party.
"Because this is a gubernatorial election, not a presidential election," he said.
