REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- National Police Inspector for General Supervision Commissioner General Dwi Priyatno said a total of 126 police involved in drug abuse were discharged dishonorably. That figure is based on the record during the last five years.
"In the last five years, 126 police fired for illicit drugs," Dwi said when he visited Semarang Police, Thursday (22/6).
According to him, the police are serious in fighting drug trafficking. It also has become an order from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
He said Indonesia is now in emergency situation in fighting drugs and need serious act. Therefore, police imposed firm action against the perpetrators and its officers who were allegedly involved.
While visiting Semarang Police, he also checked the condition of the detention room. He found out half of the prisoners were suspects of narcotics.
Meanwhile, Semarang Police Commissioner Burhanuddin said the number of prisoners of the detention room at police headquarters reached at least 90 people, among them 47 people are criminal suspects of drug abuse.
