REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Fourteen countries are taking part in the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2016 that started on September 28 at JCC Senayan and will continue till October 2.
"The countries include Malaysia, China, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Vietnam, Egypt, Bosnia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Singapore and others," organizing committee chairperson Kuslistyarini said here on Wednesday.
In addition to the publishers, libraries and campuses are also participating in the exhibition.
The general chairman of the Indonesian Publishers Association, Rosidayati Rozalina, said this event brings together book publishers from various regions of the world and is a platform for copy rights transactions.
Last year, 70 transactions of copy rights for books took place. This year, the business match-making program is likely to witness even more such transactions during the exhibition.
Rosidayati said children's books, books on religion and literary books were much in demand at various foreign publishers? stalls.
Malaysia is the honorary guest this year, just as Saudi Arabia and South Korea were in the past.
It is likely to lead to stronger literary relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, she added.
Malaysian Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid was present at the event that was officially opened by Indonesian Minister of Education Muhadjir Effendi.
