REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Escorting the demonstration on November 4th, the police, army, and municipal police personnels will dressed up in turban and white hats. National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said 18 thousand personnels will be deployed to guard the demonstration held by Islamic organizations. "Today, a quarter of the whole team gathered as preparation," Tito said on Wednesday (11/2) in Monas, Central Jakarta.

According to Indonesia Police Watch, National Police plan to use turban and white hats was exaggerate. "The police should stay professional and proportional in protecting the people in any circumstances," Chairman of the Presidium Indonesia Police Watch, Neta S Pane, said.

He explained the police has standard operating procedure and there was no regulation allowing them to use turban nor white hats when on duty. In an opened security, the police could use formal attire. "Meanwhile, in closed security measure, they could use plain clothes."

Meanwhile, National police spokesman Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said the November 4th mass has given notification letter to the police. The letter was signed by Islamic clerics Bachtiar Nasir. "We have received the notification letter yesterday (11/1)," said Boy in Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/11).

According to Boy, the protesters reached 100 thousand people. The mass will hold demonstration against the religious defamation by Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. He cited Al Maidah verse 51 as a false guidance in chosing a leader and credited ulamas who spread the verse as a liar. "They will gathered at the Parliament Building, Presidential Palace, and the Istiqlal Mosque," Boy said.
