REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has led national pilgrimage ceremony to commemorate National Heroes Day 2016, Thursday (11/10). The ceremony was held at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta.
President Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla arrived at the location at 8:10 am. The Palembang Police chief Commissioner Tommy Aria Dwianto served as commander of the ceremony.
National Pilgrimage Ceremony also done with a moment of silence in order to honor the heroes. In addition, there were also moments commemorated the battle of 10 November 1945 in Surabaya, East Java.
President Jokowi, who acted as inspector of the ceremony, then laid a wreath at a monument in Kalibata Heroes Cemetery. National pilgrimage ceremony was closed with prayer for the heroes, led by the Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin and a gun salute as last respects for the heroes.
