REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- The National Police's Criminal Investigation Department's investigator said Egypt's Syeikh Amr Wardani will be giving his statement as expert witness in the case of alleged religious blasphemy by Jakarta governor-inactive Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. "Syeikh Amr Wardani will come upon Ahok's requests and we (the police) has no problem with it," National Police Chief Tito Karnavian said.
Meanwhile, according to Al Azhar Cairo's graduates Anizar Masyhadi, Grand Syeikh Al Azhar Professor Ahmad Thayyib has asked Syeikh Amr Wardani not to interfere Indonesian affairs. Syeikh Amr Wardani has arrived in Indonesia, but the Grand Syeikh told him to immediately get back to Egypt.
The same order come from Grand Mufti Al Azhar. Anizar received the infromation from Grand Syeikh's party. Anizar was Grand Syeikh's associate during his visit to Indonesia on February 2016. Anizar shared the information to Republika.co.id.
The open case screening of Ahok's allegedly religious blasphemy to be conducted on Tuesday. Tito confirmed the police are ready. The police will presents expert witnesses from the reporter, reported, and expert witness from the investigator. Neutral parties such as Kompolnas, House of Representatives, and Ombudsman will also be at the open case screening.
According to Tito, the opinion of expert witnesses were needed as inputs. The investigator will draw conclusion at least on Wednesday. "I can not assure Ahok will come since he has no obligation to attend the open case screening," he said.
Meanwhile Commission III House of Representatives has agreed to attend the open case screening. "We decide not to be there in order to preserve the National Police independence as mandated by the law," Chief of Commission III Bambang Soesatyo said in a statement received by Republika.co.id on Monday.
