REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian police had confirmed that suspect of alleged religious blasphemy Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) would be summoned on Tuesday. He will be questioned regarding his statement in Seribu Islands. According to Ahok, Alquran surah Al Maidah verse 51 as a fasle guidance for Muslims in choosing a leader and calling whoever using the verse as justification for not electing him is a liar.
The National Police spokesman Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said the questioning session will take place on Tuesday at 09.00 am local time at the Indonesian Police Headquarters' main building.
Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian assured case file against alleged religious blasphemer would be ready within a week. "As National Police Chief, I assure within a week the case file will be ready to be handed over to the Attorney General Office, maximum in two weeks," he stressed at the Main Meeting Room National Police Headquarter on Monday.
Therefore, Tito urged the people not to stage Aksi Bela Islam III (the 3rd action to defend Islam) on December 2. He said, the action would disrupt public order and he worried some parties have intention to ride the peaceful action into hidden agenda such as coup. "But, if the people want to have a demonstration, they are pleased. They also could have Friday prayer at nearest mosques, not at the main roads," he said.
