REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Advisor of the National Movement to Guard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) Habib Rizieq Syihab stressed that the purpose of December 2 rally was still the same as previous two rallies. GNPF MUI demanded to imprison Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as suspect of religious blasphemy. "We have no other agenda that violate the law," Rizieq said.

Rizieq believes December 2 rally -- also known as 212 acts -- is protected by the Law No. 9 of 1998 concerning the expression opinion in public. The law says no body could ban rallies. "Not even the National Police chief nor the President. It can not be justified by the law," Rizieq said.

Therefore, Rizieq asked all parties, including the President and his staffs to respect the constitution.to respect the constitution. He said the 212 acts is constitutional and law enforcement as the one and only goal. "Ahok has to be arrested. Why? Because he has insulted religion," he remarked at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency Building on Wednesday.

National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian assured Ahok's case file will be ready in Friday. It will soon be handed over to Attorney General Office. In addition, he urged the people not to stage Aksi Bela Islam III (3rd action to defend Islam) on December 2. He considered the rally would disrupt public order. Tito also said that there were some parties who will try to oust Joko Widodo's presidency during the 212 rally.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo hoped there will be no further demonstration after November 4th rally. He said such action is not necessary after Ahok was processed by law.
