REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Movement to Defend the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) asked the people to oversee the trial of alleged religious blasphemy by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). "Do not be afraid to share information if there are any peculiarities in the trial," Chairman of GNPF ustaz Bachtiar Nasir said.
The people may come to the court because it is opened for public. If it is televised, they should watch it. "If you dissatisfied, please come to the hearing," Bachtiar said.
According to Bachtiar, people who support GNPF MUI are ready to stage rally at the court in case strange thing happened and the given warning was ignored. "We will muster the masses, but not nationally," Bachtiar said after friendship meeting post-212 rally at Masjid Raya Pondok Indah on Tuesday.
GNPF MUI advocate team saw signs Ahok would only be charged under Article 156a. Therefore, it would not be clear who is insulted by his statement at Seribu Islands. In fact, he should be charged under two articles, namely Article 156 and 156a of the Criminal Code.

GNPF MUI aware there was an effort to held the trial outside Java Island due to alleged interference.
