REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Director General of Immigration Board Ronny F Sompie revealed that, from January to December 2016, there were 31 thousand of foreigners from China having temporary resident permit. Meanwhile, the total amount of foreigners in Indonesia who had the same permit reached 160 thousand people, with 27 thousands of them having the working permission.
However, Ronny stated that the data would be recalculated in the near future on the proliferation of illegal foreign workers from China. He explained that the temporary resident permit would only be given after the foreigners got the working permit as an expert from the Ministry of Labor. '' If (the working permit) was approved, the Immigration Board can provide a temporary resident permit,'' he said in Jakarta on Saturday (Dec 24).

Ronny added, all the temporary resident permit was fully at the authority of the Ministry of Labor. The Immigration Board only processes the data and supervision. The board does not have an authority to do law enforcement for the violation of immigration rules.
