Immigration nabs 76 Chinese nationals working as commercial sex workers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration arrested 76 Chinese nationals from several nightclubs on Saturday (December 31, 2016) in the New Year’s Eve 2017 monitoring program. The Director General of Enforcement and Supervision, Yurod Saleh, said that the surveillance was held for two nights.

On the operation, the police raided some nightclubs which were allegedly facilitated illegal activities by foreigners. "The two-night-operation before the new year’s eve successfully resulted on the arrest of 76 women from China aged of 18-50 years old," he said on Sunday (1/1).

Yurod added, the women worked as massage therapists. However, the police uncovered that they also worked as commercial sex workers by the discovery of some evidences, such as under wears, contraceptives devices and some documents of payment. “They were commercial sex workers with fares starting from Rp 2.8 million to Rp 5 million,” he said.

According to Yurod, this is the biggest operation with 76 Chinese nationals arrested. They were allegedly violated the Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, as they were not able to show their passport. They also abused the residence permit.
