REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The legal advisor of the defendant in blasphemy case Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) reminded the former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to talk carefully due to the alleged wiretapping. 

A member of the team, I Wayan Sidarta, said SBY had ever been a president for two periods. However, he said like there was a wiretapping of a conversation between him and the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Ma’ruf Amin. 

“We should remind Mr. SBY, please be careful because you were the person we honored. We respected you because you served as president for two periods. The favorite person of many people. He should keep his honor by not making any noise," said Wayan to reporters after making a report of one of the complainants in Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Thursday.

He said SBY should not make a statement with weak argument or such perhaps. "Do not talk about something which had not happened. What which had not happen was the wiretapping. Mr. SBY talked about it as there was a wiretapping,” he said.

Wayan insisted the team never conducted a wiretapping to the former president who is also the chairman Democratic Party. Moreover, they had not been Ahok’s legal advisors at that time. 

In what date was SBY called? Then in what month? At that time we haven’t been the legal advisors (of Ahok), how could we tap?" said Wayan.

Wayan said, during the eighth session of the trial on Tuesday, the team only tried to provoke Kiai Ma’ruf to talk about the communication between him and SBY. The team asked about the hour of conversation conducted and was there any phone call. 

“We might ask. Was there any communication on about 10:16 am? We could also change the question into ‘After or before the Friday prayer? The lawyer gave an inducement,” he said.
