REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The legal advisors of the defendant on blasphemy case Basuki Tjahaja Purnama 'Ahok' planned to make report of the Chairman of Democratic Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyodo (SBY). He was allegedly spread a slander about the wiretapping issue between him and the Chairman of Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI), KH Ma’ruf Amin. In a press conference held on Wednesday (Feb 1), SBY asked President Joko Widodo to explain about the allegation since interception of a phone call is allowed with tight restriction by the regulation.
A day after that, President gave his response. To the reporters, he asked SBY not to hand over the issue to him. "Do bring it over to me. Ask to those who said it," he remarked on Thursday.
Responding the issue, the spokesperson of Democratic Party, Imelda Sari, said her party did not mind with Ahok's legal team's plan to file a police report against SBY. She said everyone has the right to make a report on an incident they experienced.
"We only look at the basic law (of the report by Ahok’s lawyers). We would see what would be conveyed,” said Imelda after joining a discussion in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (Feb 5).
In the other hand, Imelda reminded that SBY could also make a report against them. Moreover, he said he found from the facts of the trial that his phone had been wiretapped.
Imelda said Ahok and the legal advisors should clarify the fact of the trial. But, so far they were unable not explain to the public the alleged contents of conversation between SBY and Kiai Ma'ruf. Imelda remarked that they left the public wondered. “It should be clarified. First, where did they get the data?” she said.
On Saturday (Feb 4), one of Ahok’s lawyer, Tommy Sihotang, claimed to have a plan to file a police report against SBY if the allegation of wiretapping was not proven. He said SBY did not have the prove to support his allegation.
Tommy said the evidences were based on news on the online media at October 7, 2016. Ahok's legal team also had a witness who confirmed the alleged content of conversation between SBY and Kiai Ma'ruf. He felt strange if SBY thought it was wiretapping.

Meanwhile, after examining the recording in the proofing of Kiai Ma'ruf in the trial of religious blasphemy held on Tuesday (Jan 31), Moh Mahfud MD believed Ahok's attorney had carried out a tapping. He made the conclusion after hearing the attorney mention the conversation between SBY and Kiai Ma'ruf was on 10:16am. "It is a violation of law with imprisonment of 10 years," the Chairman of the Advisory Board of Legal Aid of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama reiterated in an interview at TVOne on last Wednesday (Feb 1).
Back to the plan to sue SBY, the coordinator of Ahok’s legal team, Humphrey Djemat quickly denied it. “It was just a comment from one of the lawyer and it had been decided,” he told Republika.co.id.
Previously, Humphrey asserted the National Police and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) did not involved in alleged wiretapping. He claimed the evidence of conversation between the two national figures was given by the God. "It is from God. All of it is from God. Now, who is the most powerful? BIN, police or God? Of course, God, right? he said while laughing.
