REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) promoted the meatball soup dish unique to Indonesia through a video blog or vlog on the sharing site, YouTube. "Tonight, the Minister, the Governor and I are enjoying meatball soups (bakso), look at it," he exclaimed while directing the camera towards his meal, complete with wontons, in a 1:23 minute long video.
The video, titled "MAKAN BAKSO (EATING MEATBALL SOUP) #JKWVLOG," was shot in the midst of his presidential visit to Ambon from February 8 to 9.
In the video, the president appeared to be enjoying his meatball soup dish with a glass of iced tea in the company of Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Maluku Governor Said Assegaf, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Presidential Special Communication Staff Johan Budi. "We need to experience authentic Indonesian cuisines and, in the future, we need to create a brand for it. That way we can introduce Indonesian novelty dishes at the international level and familiarize the global community with meatballs, soups (soto), padangnese rice and chicken satay," he remarked.
Other than introducing meatball soup, the president also mentioned having distributed the Social Health Insurance Card (Kartu Indonesia Sehat) and Social Education Card (Kartu Indonesia Pintar) in the province of Maluku, especially in Ambon.
The video was uploaded on YouTube today and had attracted 27,414 views. This was not the president's first vlog as he had uploaded another when he attended the Presidential Soccer Cup Tournament in the Maguwoharjo Stadium in Jogjakarta on February 4. The match was between PSS Sleman and Persipura Jayapura. President Joko Widodo's YouTube channel has 81,903 subscribers.
