REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) stated that the simultanous regional elections was constitutional right of the people to choose the leaders who were hoped to bring better changes in the future.
The Deputy Chairman of MUI Zainut Tauhid Saadi said the choice might be different, but the unity, brotherhood and harmony among the society should be maintained. "Everyone has the right to vote according to their preference and it is stated on the Constitution," he said on Wednesday.
In spite of the difference in electing candidates in regional elections, Zainut asked the peoples not to be disunited. He hoped all the hustle and bustle during the election would be ended today, on the elections day. "Whoever gets the biggest vote, We should accept the results gracefully. Because that is who the peoples want. It should be appreciated. The elected governor and the regent are our leaders," said him.
