REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno opened Minang Book Fair 2017 at Grand Mosque of West Sumatra, Padang, on Friday morning (Feb 24).
Minang Book Fair started today and will conclude on March 5 next month. As many as 35 publishers and booksellers participate in this exhibition and have set up 57 booths and 50 supporting booths for books in the courtyard of the mosque.
At this event, Governor Irwan Prayitno will get the national endowment of literacy figure from the head of National Library M Syarif Bando.
At the opening ceremony, the Governor read poems for guests, among them Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Fadli Zon, head of National Library M Syarif Bando, and the regional representative's council (DPD) members.
The Governor also made a rhyme for publishers of books and Reading Ambassador Najwa Shihab. For the first time, the book fair attended by regents, mayors, and book publishers of Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI).
