REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director of PT Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat said the cooperation between Tolak Angin, the well-known herbal medicine in Indonesia, and comic Ernest Prakasa was almost over. He said the company did not want to extend the contract.
Therefore, Tolak Angin advertising featuring the comedian will no longer on air. "The contract with Ernest is almost over and the ad were not aired," Irwan told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Irwan affirmed, even if Ernest still has the contract, the company also will cut the contract because, Ernest tweet on his Twitter account hurt the company.
However, Ernest had apologized to him directly as a result of Ernest's statement considered insulted international cleric or preacher, Zakir Naik.
"He called and apologized to me, personally apologize. He felt his statement hurt Sido Muncul," Irwan said.
Previously, in his Twitter account Ernest said Zakir Naik has funded ISIS. He also insulted Vice President Jusuf Kalla for meeting with Zakir Naik on Saturday evening, March 4, 2017.
"JK welcomed Zakir Naik, person that gave money for ISIS. It is difficult to understand," Ernest wrote on his Twitter account @ernestprakasa.
Ernest's tweet was criticized by netizen. Netizen urge the people to boycott Tolak Angin. The hashtag #BoikotTolakAngin became number one trending topic on Tuesday morning.
