REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CENTRAL LOMBOK -- A 15-member Australian delegation visited Mandalika special economic zone in Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province, to look into the possibility of investment in the 1.2 thousand-hectare economic zone.
The delegation, which comprised of investors and consultants, have expressed keen interest in investing in the economic zone, spokesman for the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Chris Bandy, said in Tanjung Aan Beach in Central Lombok on Wednesday. "They stated that the location was good. It has a very good potential for Australian investors to invest there," he noted.
The Australian delegation visited Tanjung Aan Beach and Merese Hill to look into the potential businesses that they can develop in the economic zone, he remarked. "This is in line with the Australian Embassy's decision to focus on Lombok and increase (the number of) tourist sites in Lombok," he underlined.
Director of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (PT ITDC) Dharma Setiawan pointed out that the Australian delegation's visit to Lombok is part of Indonesia-Australia Business Week held in Jakarta.
Before visiting Lombok, the Australian delegation explored the possibility of investment in other tourist destinations in the country, he said. "They are interested in Mandalika now," he added.
