REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Chairman of General Election Commission (KPU) Arief Budiman said the number of budget needed for holding simultaneous regional election in 2018 reached Rp 11.3 trillion. It was submitted by 171 areas.
“This is a recapitulation of 171 areas that have been submitted to us so far. The regional government is still discussing it, so it may be accepted or corrected by them,” said Arief to reporters in the DPR Building on Tuesday (April 25).
Arief explained that there were some factors affected the budget submitted by each area, for example the scope of the area and the huge numbers of population.
KPU admitted that the budget submitted was higher than the financing of simultaneous regional election of 269 areas in 2015. He said some areas had many numbers of population, such as Papua, North Sumatra, East Java, West Java, Central Java and South Sumatra.
Arief added that the rationality of budget submission was depended on regional governments’ consideration. “The budget is not from national budget, but regional one. That is why the regional government needs negotiation. Of course, there should be consideration of effectiveness and efficiency,” he said.
