REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chief of the Indonesian military (TNI) General Gatot Nurmantyo has assured that the chief of the Marine Security Board (Bakamla) Vice Admiral Arie Soedewo will meet a summons from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to act as a witness in a graft case.

"He will come. He was not present for the previous trial as he was out of office. But he would show up at the corruption court on April 26 (for the hearing)," he said at the office of the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs here on Tuesday.

The anti-graft body has summoned Soedewo to testify in the alleged case of corruption related to the procurement of monitoring satellite in the budget year 2016.

Asked about the possibility of the Bakamla chief ignoring the KPK summons, the TNI chief believed that he would not do that again.

"I assure that TNI members are law-abiding citizens," he remarked.

There is no need for the TNI to exaggerate the absence of the Bakamla chief in the previous hearing by fielding its personnel.

"He must come," he asserted.

Earlier, KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah stated that the KPK would involve the TNI chief and the military police to include the Bakamla chief as a witness in the investigation of the alleged graft case.
