REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Observer on Criminal Law of Indonesian Islamic University (UII) Yogyakarta, Mudzakir, said 55 rally held today (May 5) was legitimate. The demand argued to be neutral and did not contain any intervention to the law.  

"I think it is only a moral support demanding independent decision by the judges," said Mudzakir toRepublika.co.id on Friday (May 5).  

He insisted that any game of law cannot be tolerated. The judges should be independent and free from any influences in making the decision.

"The judges may not playing with the law. Doing it means a violation to Constitution. The judges who play the game should be dismissed," he said. 

The 55 rally initialized by National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI). It demanded legal justice and judges' independence in the blasphemy case with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok as the defendant.
