REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Health Ministry Nila F. Moeloek emphasized its commitment to refuse the draft of Law on Tobacco. She said the official statement would be delivered by the Trade Ministry Enggartiasto Lukita.
She admitted to wait an announcement from the Trade Ministry related to the result. “But the Health Ministry insisted to refuse as we want to keep the health of the society,” said her when opening 4th Indonesian Conference on Tobacco or Health 2017, in Jakarta, on Monday (May 15).
Nila claimed that all the government institution refused the draft by their own reasons. But, so far the Health Ministry tried to reduce the tobacco contents in cigarettes. One of the effort was by reducing the import of tobacco.
She said, cigarettes had made significance increasing of BPJS financing trough its national health insurance-Indonesian Health Card (JKN-KIS). She insisted that the smoke produced from cigarettes might cause diseases, not only for active but also passive smokers.
