Police must arrest alleged steamy chat spreader: Lawyer

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The lawyer of Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, Eggi Sudjana, argued that the named of his client to be suspect of alleged steamy conversation was inappropriate. He said Rizieq and Firza were victims on the case. 

“Based on the substance, this is a pornographic case. The basic was Law of Information and Technology. We should consider the spreader and the uploader. In this case, Rizieq and Firza were the victims,” said him to Republika.co.id on Monday (May 29). 

Eggi said police should arrest the first uploader of the alleged steamy chat. He gave an example when Buni Yani named as a suspect of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok’s case.

Police have named Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab (HRS) as a suspect of alleged steamy conversation with Firza Husein, on Monday. The Spokesperson of Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono confirmed the information.

"This afternoon at 12.00 p.m., after the title case, Jakarta Metro Police had rouse HRS status from witness to suspect,” said Argo on Monday (May 29).

He added that the decision was taken based on some evidence. However, he could not mention the detail of HRS’role. He did not mention what steps would be taken in the future.
