REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The West Java administration and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met here on Tuesday to discuss and evaluate the continuation of the project of Bandung Intra Urban Toll Road (BIUTR).
West Java administration secretary Iwa Karniwa said the provincial administration and JICA saw that implementation of the project depend on the readiness of the central government, the provincial and city administrations to share the cost of land clearing.
"Therefore, there will be a final meeting on cost sharing," Iwa said after a meeting with JICA representative.
After there was agreement on the allocation of budget, there would be a memorandum of understanding between Jakarta, the West Java administration and Bandung city administration.
Meanwhile JICA representative in Indonesia, Endo Kei said JICA is awaiting decision between the Public Works and Housing Ministry, the West Java provincial administration and the Bandung city administration on the land clearing cost sharing.
"We understand the process is in progress," Endo said, adding the MOU is an important key in the project. Financial support from JICA would depend on the MOU. JICA believes the project is feasible and its implementation is urgent," Endo said.
He said JICA would continue to keep its commitment to helping building the BIUTR project.
