REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A political observer from Indonesian Center of Islamic and State Studies Arif Susanto said the meeting between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the National Movement to Safeguard Indonesian Council of Ulema's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) was a smart political communications.

"Moreover, the relationship between the Palace and Islamic political parties seemed to not harmonious," said Arif in Jakarta on Wednesday (June 28).

Arif said it was a chance to change the negative image. The meeting was needed to be placed more than an additional political capital, but also a form of wider agreement between political power among the societies.
