REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidium of 212 Alumni appreciated the meeting between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) with the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulema's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) on June 25. It was argued as a form of reconciliation.
The Chairman of Presidium Ansufri Idrus Sambo said it might be a national pre-dialogue between ulemas, activists, and national figures with the government. It was important to find solution for the continuous and endless uproar.
“The meeting must aim at saving and releasing all ulemas, activists and Islamic organizations,” said Ansufri in a press release to HYPERLINK Republika.co.id on Wednesday (June 27).
He reminded that the meeting should be held for the sake of all Muslims. It should not be spotted by political or economic tendencies. Ansufri expected that the communication with President might save the country from any disunite, noise, horizontal conflicts and national disintegration.

On Sunday (June 25), a closed meeting between Jokowi and GNPF was held. Chairman of GNPF Bachtiar Nasir said the current situation between government and ulemas, especially during and after Jakarta election. He said there was a strong gap between one and another parties.
Bachtiar also said that there was a paradoxical condition where the government did not feel to cornered Muslim, while GNPF captured that Muslims were accused as anti-Pancasila, anti-NKRI and anti-unity.
