No tourist attractions to be closed during Obama's visit: TN

Indonesian military personnels are on alert to guard former US president, Barack Obama, visit to Borobudur temple, Magelang, Central Java, Wednesday (June 28).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Commander of Military Resort 072/Pamungkas Brigadier General Fajar Setiawan has made assurance that there are no plans of closing down tourist attractions during the former US President Barack Obama's visit to Yogyakarta Province.

"No tourist attractions will be closed, as the Lebaran holiday is still underway. We also want to provide security and comfort to the people who are vacationing in Yogyakarta," he stated after leading a roll call to observe the security preparedness ahead of Obama's arrival at North Square, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday.

Obama and his family have planned to visit Yogyakarta on June 28-30. According to information received by Antara, after departing from Bali, Obama and his family will visit the temples of Prambanan and Borobudur.

Nevertheless, Setiawan noted that his party has no information on the places to be visited by Obama.

"There is no fixed agenda on the places to be visited by Obama, so we have not been able to inform you about the sites," he stated.

He made assurance that all personnel of the Indonesian National Army and Police of Yogyakarta have set up maximum security in accordance with the security standards for the state guests. 

"Clearly, we are ready to provide security and guarantee the safety of the state guests during their visits in the provinces of Yogyakarta and Central Java," he added.
