REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Presidential Palace has clarified that there would be no increase in the president's and vice president's salaries.
The president and vice president still received their salaries based on Law No.7 Year of 1978 on The Administrative and Financial Rights of the President and Vice President.
Head of the Presidential Press and Information Bureau, Bey Machmudin, said in a press statement here on Wednesday that rumors stating that the president's and vice president's salaries had been raised were not true.
He added that till now, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Jusuf Kalla still received salaries based on Law No.7 Year of 1978.
Article 2 of the law stated that the basic salary of the president is six times of the highest salary of state officials in Indonesia (apart from the president and vice president).
In the meantime, the basic salary of the vice president is four times of the highest salary of state officials (apart from the president and vice president).
Based on Government Regulation No. 75 Year of 2000, the highest salary of state officials (House Speaker, chairmen of the Supreme Court and the State Audit Board) is Rp5,040,000 per month.
Thus, the basic salary of the president is Rp30,240,000 per month plus Rp32,500,000 presidential allowance.
In the meantime, the basic salary of the vice president is Rp20,160,000 per month plus Rp22,000,000 vice presidential allowance.
