Bang Japar urges authority to turn Ahok back to Cipinang

Bang Japar staged 707 rally in front of Ministry of Law and Human Rights on Friday (July 7) to turn back Ahok to Cipinang prison.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A mass of Jakarta fighter and lawyer (Bang Japar) held Rally 707 'Ahok Turn Back Cipinang' in Ministry of Law and Human Right, South Jakarta, on Friday (July 7).  They demanded to turn Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as convicted in blasphemy case back to Cipinang Correctional Institution after being jailed in Mako Brimob prison.  

A participant, Ade Selon who was the Jakarta Youth Movement Commander said 200 people joined the rally from Bang Japar and LBH Japar. He said the rally demanded law enforcement to be conducted based on the rules.  

Bang Japar Legal Aid Director, Juju Purwantoro, said the law should be implement without any discrimination. Therefore, Ahok should be brought back to Cipinang prison.

"Legally Ahok is a convict over a legally bind decision (in kracht) so he must be returned to Cipinang, "said Juju at Republika.co.id in Jakarta, Friday (July 7).

Juju asserted Mako Brimob is not a Correctional Institution. Therefore, Ahok should not be detained there. 

"If he stayed there, it would disturb the sense of justice," he said.

Police deployed a number of personnel to safeguard the action. Head of Sabara Unit for Setiabudi Budi Cahyonl said there were two platoons and about 30 personnel involved.
