REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The Minister of Communication and Information Technolgy Rudiantara encourages companies of social media platform such as Facebook, Twitter, and video sharing site Youtube to help the government in preventing the spread of radical understanding in Indonesia.

He also threatened to ban to social media platform that is not cooperative to support the government.

"So we apologize to the friends who play Facebook or Youtube if someday we will have to close the access because the government duty is to keeping this conducive," he said after attended Anti-Radicalism Declaration at Padjadjaran University, Friday (July 14).

Rudiantara said the policy was a follow-up of the Indonesian government's disappoinment to the policy of an international social media platform. So far, Indonesian government request to crackdown on malicious accounts is not fully filled.

During 2016, the international social media platform only closes 50 percent of the accounts who asked by ministry to be dealt with. "In 2016, the demand to take down accounts in the social media as well as video sharing files was 50 percent done by the provider of the social media platform. It was disspoinment for us, so we are asking for it to be fixed," said Rudiantara.

Following this, Rudiantara has sent representatives to communicate this things with the social media corporates and video sharing files provider. He reiterated that the government would be firm if there were no improvements in restricting radically accounts.

After that, the goverment will take firm steps to close socia media access if there is still no improvements. "You (the social media company) are doing business in Indonesia.
