REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said Indonesian nationals who joined ISIS in abroad did not have to come home.

"It would cost much trouble. Let them stay there," Ryamizard said in Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Monday (July 17).

Most of the citizens said they were deceived when joining IS or became ISIS sympathizers, Ryamizard said. He believed it was a classical reason.

"Do not come home. If you want to fight, just fight there until death," Ryamizard said quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, Indonesian National Counter-terrorism Agency (BNPT) head Commander General Suhardi Alius hoped the revision on terrorism bill would cover the rule that enable people who have joined terrorism activities to lose their citizenship.

"We will discuss whether they could be stateless after joining terorrist network. It is an option. May be there would be verification investigation process before granting them stateless. In some countries, such people could be arrested instantly," Suhardi said.

According to data from the Turkish Interior Ministry as reported by News.com.au on Saturday (15/7), out of a total of 4,957 ISIS foreign militants captured in Turkey, Russian dominates with 804 people followed by Indonesian citizens as much as 435 people.
