REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Key witness in the athlete house corruption case Yulianis said two former commissioners of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto rejected request to summon Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), son of former President Bambang Susilo Yudhoyono, for questioning over corruption in the Hambalang Sports Center project.
The name of Ibas was mentioned three times in the trial of suspects that he received money from Muhammad Nazaruddin, former treasurer of the Democrat Party, now serving jail term for corruption.
"The commissioners at that time were Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto. It was said Ibas was a friend. I was confused that summoning is selective," Yulianis told lawmakers in a hearing with the House Special Committee for Right to Inquire KPK, here on Monday.
Yulianis said she received the information from a KPK investigator named Sigit when she asked why Ibas was not summoned for investigation in the corruption Hambalang sport center corruption case.
She said the name of Ibas was mentioned not only by her when she stood as a witness in a court but also by Nazaruddin and Anas Urbaningrum, former general chairman of the Democrat Party, who is also serving jail term for involvement in the Hambalang case.
"The answer was that, 'rejected as according to the commissioners Ibas was a friend.' I just laugh when thinking about that until now," she said.
She said that KPK investigators already three times prepared letters to summon Ibas, but were always rejected by Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto.
