REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi has rejected allegation that his ministry has suspended Scouts budget. He said the accusation was a slander.
Imam explained, the ministry was only delaying the disbursement of grants for the scouting movement.
"Please, do not use the word "suspend"," he said in his office in Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 25).
He deplored the rumor caused the public to think the ministry has the intention to dismiss the Scouts.
"I have no intention to freeze the Scout movement. That is a vile slander, deliberately spreading hatred," he said.
Imam explained the ministry decided to postpone aid fund disbursement for the national scouting movement because of Chairman of Indonesian Scout Movement Adhyaksa Dault was indicated to support Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, mass organization that is currently banned by the government.
Adhyaksa was alleged as sympathisizer of HTI. "If you look at the video (of Adhyaksa being interviewed with HTI reporter), you would see it as indication or what? I leave (the judgement) to the public," Imam said.
Imam reiterated the ministry has the obligation to protect the Scout from any concept against the ideology of the state, Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
