REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Home Affairs held a coordination meeting to discuss readiness to implement the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in 2018 and the national issue.
Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, in his speech, urged the local government to always build communication with all community leaders with regard to holding Pilkada simultaneously.
"Building a comprehensive mindset is important. If communication is good, stability can be maintained," Kumolo noted in his speech in Jakarta on Friday.
Kumolo lauded security officers of the Indonesian Defense Forces, the National Police, State Intelligence Agency, and Public Security and Order (Satpol PP) who have contributed greatly to maintaining a conducive environment during the implementation of simultaneous elections held so far.
Kumolo reminded that the Ministry of Home Affairs has also taken anticipatory steps in areas that are considered vulnerable to conflict.
"Similarly, local governments should be proactive in looking at the dynamics of their territories. All regions must be recorded to identify which have a large population and are prone to conflict," Kumolo added.
