KPK questions five Malang city officials

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned on Wednesday five officials of the Malang city government in East Java on graft charges. 

The five officials are Malang Mayor Moch Anton, City Secretary Wasto, Assistant for Economy to City Secretary Diah Ayu Kusumadewi, Assistant for Administration to City Secretary Abdul Malik, and Assistant for Development to City Secretary Supranoto.

The team of KPK investigators also searched a number of rooms at the Malang City Hall, including the offices of the mayor, the vice mayor, and three assistants to the city secretary.

The team also searched a number of offices outside the city hall, including the public works and spatial layout office, the investment and integrated one-stop licensing service office, and the Malang City Legislative Council (DPRD).

Chief of the Malang City DPRD Arief Wicaksono has reportedly been named a suspect. However, there has been no detailed information on which case he has been involved.

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah who happened to be in Malang to address a seminar at the Muhammadiyah University refused to divulge the name of the suspect in the case.

"The suspect is a state official. But we will disclose details of the suspect later on," he said.
