REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi expressed hope that the national strategic Adi Sumarmo Airport train project in Solo would be completed on time.

"Solo is a tourist destination city, and so, it has many strategic national projects, which continue to be monitored by the President and the Vice President," the minister said here, Friday.

He stressed that during the cabinet sessions, the strategic project is always monitored, so that the ministry of transportation can ensure the project is completed on schedule, namely in 2018.

The minister remarked that his office had acquired funds for land acquisition and development. "I am confident that the mayor of Solo will conduct the land clearing quickly.

In his meeting with the mayor of Surakara (Solo), the minister acknowledged that his ministry was also gathering outputs on the problems being faced in the implementation of the project.

"We appreciate the work of the Surakarta regional government, which so far is progressing well. Yet, we expect better work and administration, so that the project can be completed on time in November 2018," the minister mentioned.

He hoped the completion of the project would increase the number of passengers visiting Solo. After all, Solo has a high rate of train passengers, he added.

Last year, a total of 1.4 million passengers entered Solo, but now it has reached 2.4 million.

"We hope it will have the same number of passengers as Yoyakarta, which reached 80 to 10 million per annum," the minister  said.
