REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan asked clerics and preachers to combat corruption by rejecting money politic and choosing the best leader with common sense. 

"Choose the leader and members of parliament with common sense and rational thinking, the one who can make changes, trusted, and bring progress," Zulkifli said when speaking at the Inaguration of regional leadership councils of the Coordinating Board of Preacher and Cleric in Jakarta on Tuesday (September 26). 

However, Zulkifli asserted that MPR was ready to synergize with all preachers and clerics throughout the country to realize a democratic, corruption-free country and to uphold justice in Indonesia. 

Zulkifli realized how important role of preachers and clerics in society. According him, as a figure who keeps on lecturing, preachers and clerics must be given understanding of Pancasila, Constitution 1945, Unitary State of Republic Indonesia and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. 

"Preachers and clerics are close to the community and if they already understand about it all, we expect they can also share the national values," Zulkifli explained. 

Moreover, he said lately regional elections (PIlkada) has became one of problems faced by the country since some candidates use money politics when running in the election. So when they elected, they would try to earn money back. 

"If money politic occured in the election of members of House of representatives (DPR) and leaders of regions, we might see more caught red-handed casees here and there," he added.
